Our Re-Established Old City Drum Corps was founded in 2018. In 1975 when US Army veteran Master Drum Major George Carroll lead the East Florida Fife & Drum at the start of the First Night Watch Parade, he couldn’t know that one of his students, Sr. Drum Sgt. & C.F.O. Michael S. Thomas would re-establish that group in 2018 to form Old City Drum Corps. As Founder & Chairman Of The Board, Sr. Drum Sgt. Thomas, re-organized Old City Drum Corps (OCDC) and is proud to have trained under George Carroll, honored and excited to share our vision & mission of the New Old City Drum Corps. The professional musicians of Old City Drum Corps recall the days of 16th thru 18th century periods as they parade in uniforms patterned after those worn by the musicians of that time. Every Professional Musician of Old City Drum Corps is Highly skilled with years of training either in military service and or trained under world renown musicians. Many of our musicians are award-winning artists and full-time musicians, They are not re-en actors. The Corps uses century period, handmade rope-tension drums which bring to life the exciting sounds of 16th thru 18th century drumming. Old City Drum Corps consists of local Saint Augustine professional musicians trained in military marching, choreography and time period music. The size of their ensembles can be as small as a two man drumming solo exhibition…and as large as a full 12pc. Fife & Drum Corps with color guard & Drum Major.
