The Cathedral Basilica in St Augustine, FL, was packed for the Ninth Annual St Augustine Music Festival. The Music Festival and its musicians brought back to life the music of world famous master composers on a stage of almost perfect acoustics.
The Music Festival will continue this coming weekend of June25 – June 27 at 7:30pm with an all different program, ending with the world premier of Piotr Szewczyk’s St Augustine Suite, which was commissioned by the festival to commemorate the 450th anniversary of the City of St Augustine. This is a must not to be missed!
On June 6, 2015 the City of St Augustine goes through a re-enactment of he raid of 1586. Here are some highlights, as the battle rages through the heart of the old city, ending at the Cathedral Basilica..

The St. Augustine Music festival features musicians from the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra joined by internationally renowned artists presenting a variety of classical compositions. Be sure to join us for the 2015 Ninth Annual St. Augustine Music Festival, scheduled again by popular request over two consecutive weekends, June 18-20 and June 25-27. It will be celebrating the 450th birthday of the City of St. Augustine with special concert programs, including the world-premiere of a composition commissioned in honor of this notable anniversary.
Catherine Payne of First Coast.TV talked to St Augustine Police Chief Loran Lueders about the preparations for the 450th anniversary celebrations in the city of St Augustine.
The event will be five days long from Sept. 4th to Sept. 8th, so Catherine inquired about traffic, safety, access into the city, and other related issues.
The Kenny MacKenzie Trio played at the Romanza Festivale in St Augustine this week. The trio began in NYC in the year 2000 and has played in many venues in the Northeast. Recently, Kenny moved to Palm Coast. He can now be heard hosting a program on WFCF St. Augustine featuring “Jazz Greats” every Tuesday from 3-7 pm. His trio has recently appeared in the New Smyrna Beach Jazz Festival and the NEFJA Jazz Festival. Don Lerman in Cadence Magazine is quoted saying: “MacKenzie presents a varied program of inventive original music that brings to mind the angular style of Keith Jarrett and the groovy appeal of Ramsey Lewis”.

The audience relaxed to the sounds of the Umbargers playing and singing originals from their new CD, New World Arising (A Tribute to St. Augustine at 450) at the Colonial Quarter on St George Street. The strains of the guitar and violin blended perfectly in the hands of this talented duo. Paul and Caren are gifted musicians, teachers, artists and writers in St. Augustine. Along with an active performing schedule, they teach violin, viola, guitar, piano, trumpet and bass in their music studio.

St Augustine Cruisers had their 13th Annual Car & Truck Show on May 2nd, at Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind on San Marco Ave, in St Augustine, FL.
The St. Augustine Cruisers Car Club is a family-oriented car club that began in the mid-90’s when four old-car enthusiasts got together. The small group grew quickly and they decided to officially become a car club. In 2001, the St. Augustine Cruisers were organized to promote interest in various types of special auto activities, create good fellowship and sportsmanship among the members, and to support charities. The St. Augustine Cruisers is a 501(c)4 non-profit organization.

So please join us in Saint Augustine, FL from May 8th through the 17th for a celebration of art and music in the Nation’s oldest city featuring more than 60 events and exhibits by dozens of organizations to kick off St. Augustine’s “anniversary year.” Daily events include music and dance performances, concerts, art shows, fashion show, dramatic productions and much more at locations throughout the city. Many events are free and admission is required for the others.
Environmental and Climate Challenge Day was at the Willie Galimore Center in St Augustine yesterday. Many speakers on a number of environmentally sensitive issues and vendors representing Marineland, Whitney Labs, Anastasia Mosquito Control District, and a number of environmental organizations were all there.
Many things I knew and many I did not, so it was truly an educational event for First Coast.TV. It is knowledge that gives power to communities all over the world, and that knowledge always saves lives.
First Coast.TV got to speak to Laura Javens-McConnell of Under the Rainbow Ranch. She articulated her reason for being at One Spark Festival.
Her project targets abused children and veterans.
They provide a positive environment to children of broken and abusive homes by using horses as a source of therapy. Also will integrate the veterans with the children pairing them up to provide a natural bond among the individuals as they work side by side all the while helping each other overcome traumatic events.
