La Jax English Salsa Band toco en San Agustín para el Festivale Romanza y pusieron a la gente a bailar. Tocaron ritmos conocidos de Colombia, Cuba y Puerto Rico, y todo el mundo a gozar sabroso.

Kenny MacKenzie Trio in St Augustine

The Kenny MacKenzie Trio played at the Romanza Festivale in St Augustine this week. The trio began in NYC in the year 2000 and has played in many venues in the Northeast. Recently, Kenny moved to Palm Coast. He can now be heard hosting a program on WFCF St. Augustine featuring “Jazz Greats” every Tuesday from 3-7 pm. His trio has recently appeared in the New Smyrna Beach Jazz Festival and the NEFJA Jazz Festival. Don Lerman in Cadence Magazine is quoted saying: “MacKenzie presents a varied program of inventive original music that brings to mind the angular style of Keith Jarrett and the groovy appeal of Ramsey Lewis”.

The audience relaxed to the sounds of the Umbargers playing and singing originals from their new CD, New World Arising (A Tribute to St. Augustine at 450) at the Colonial Quarter on St George Street. The strains of the guitar and violin blended perfectly in the hands of this talented duo. Paul and Caren are gifted musicians, teachers, artists and writers in St. Augustine. Along with an active performing schedule, they teach violin, viola, guitar, piano, trumpet and bass in their music studio.

Robert Burns and his Hammered Dulcimer

Robert Burns performed instrumental music on an ancient instrument, the Hammered Dulcimer, in the historic swimming pool area of the Lightner Museum. This free performance was opened to the public and was from 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.
Robert’s unique melodic, rhythmic sound and style captivated, educated, and entertained. “I’ve had a lifelong passion and love for music. Listening to the sound of this ancient instrument in this historic pool setting at the Lightner Museum was truly inspirational,” said Robert Burns, who enjoys an international following and is a full time musician, composer and music educator in St. Augustine.
