Lightner After Hours Enlightens the Senses

Tthe Lightner Museum had its January’s Lightner After Hours event for an evening of enlightening conversation and exceptional music in Lightner Museum’s Mezzanine above the Historic Pool area on January 25th, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Music was provided by Blue Muse, an enigma, is true to their name. Formed in 2013, the members of Blue Muse are as eclectic as their music: a former computer consultant recruiting her professor, fellow Jacksonville University students, and adjuncts as well as a baker’s apprentice. It is this sense of mystery and thoughtful collaboration that attributes to the diversified sound their fans love. Sarah Lee recognized each member’s passion for jazz as she worked with each musician while attending Jacksonville University on her own quest to follow her life’s passion, music.

This program seeks to highlight the social trends of the Gilded Era, one of the more popular and iconic changes being the development of the cocktail, in this case related to gin, its history and evolution.  Guests were able to sample specially-crafted gin cocktails, enjoyed food-pairings as well as learned a little about the dynamic changes that occurred during the first part of the twentieth century.  Guests left encouraged to entertain in style in their own homes!
